Why You Need to Have Videos on Your WebsiteAdding videos to your blog and your business website can be a great way to share new information with your consumers. It’s a quick and easy way to make your business website more personal, valuable, and interesting to your consumers.

If you have a high-involvement product that requires educating your consumer, it can work against you to have a lot of copy in your website trying to explain it. Consumers don’t want to put forth a lot of effort once they reach your website. You have less than a few seconds to grab their attention, and an even shorter amount of time to convince them you have a solid product.

Use videos

Using videos is not only a fun, easy, and quick way to explain your product, but it is a great way to increase your social media marketing activity. The amount of users on video sharing sites like YouTube and Vimeo give you a great opportunity to reach broader audiences.

Once you post a video on your website, people have the ability to share it with others. Because videos by nature are just easier to understand than large blocks of copy, information is more likely to get passed on.

What kinds of videos you should post

There are so many things you can use a well-constructed video for. You can have a page on your website filled with videos like:

Using videos for this kind of information gives your customers a little more value. Watching someone in their own consumer market talk about your product will do a lot more for your credibility than just reading about it on your website and seeing a picture.

How it Helps Social Media Marketing

Once you post a few videos, you’ll start to see how much easier it is to share information verbally rather than through written words. Set up a YouTube channel and have people subscribe to it. By embracing the myriad of ways you can use social media, you will be able to build up a larger consumer base and your consumers will be more interested in interacting with your company.

The Creative Campaign

Due to the overwhelming number of Tweets popping up all over Twitter discussing the hilarity of the new Old Spice commercial, the shirtless Old Spice Man is shooting YouTube videos responding to people’s Tweets.

The Old Spice Man has even made videos responding to Tweets from very famous people with huge followings, such as Kevin Rose, Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan, and Justine Bateman.

This social media ad campaign has had tremendous success because Old Spice is diving right into the social media scene and interacting with audience members. If you think about it, it’s a genius idea. How would you feel if a commercial spokesperson made a video responding directly to your Tweet?

There are already over 100 customized Old Spice video responses on YouTube, each are highly targeted toward a single individual. The social media interaction that Old Spice is expounding upon, can be called one of the most creative and interesting marketing strategies we’ve seen in a long time.

By harnessing the power of social media sites like Twitter and YouTube, Old Spice has spread explosively across the viral marketing network.

Here is an example of the conversation between Kevin Rose, CEO of Digg, and the Old Spice Man by way of Kevin Rose’s Tweets and the Old Spice Man’s video responses.

Because of these videos, thousands of people are Re-Tweeting conversations about Old Spice and searching the web for the YouTube videos. Old Spice’s creative campaign may have been entertaining for us viewers, but the viral marketing that resulted from the customized videos will certainly do well for Old Spice.

Why does this work?

People love public recognition. If you single out and thank a particular client or customer in the public eye, you will undoubtedly gain that client’s loyalty. Which brings me to the point, how long will the Old Spice Man continue to make personalized videos tailoring to each individual audience member? Hopefully a little longer, because these videos are hilarious.

YouTubeYouTube, owned by Google, is now the world’s second largest search engine. The viral video market has completely exploded to the point where popular videos are even shown on daily news channels.

According to Mitch Joel’s Blog Post, Six Pixels of Separation, YouTube is the best place to release information because of

the magnitude of traffic and searches that YouTube represents in the overall scope of the Internet and media”

Viral videos are entertaining, educational, and easy to watch. Whatever your query, there is almost certainly a YouTube video about it. It can be anything form how to Jailbreak an iphone, perform a skateboarding trick, spice up your Internet marketing strategy, or in this case:

become famous overnight for an over-the-top emotional response to a double rainbow.

The Double Rainbow Guy – Whoa.

The Double Rainbow Guy, or Paul Vasquez, was once a professional cage fighter and is now the renowned naturalist who’s homemade video of a double rainbow has been made famous by coverage from CBS News, ABC News, The Huffington Post, and a tweet from Jimmy Kimmel.

Jimmy Kimmel posted on Twitter on July 3, “my friend Todd has declared this ‘funniest video in the world’ – he might very well be right.” He posted a link to the video on his Twitter page that directed thousands of followers to watching the video, and communicating about it.

Watch the video here:

This video, deemed a “viral video sensation” has spread so fast, the three-and-a-half-minute video has received over 3.2 Million hits since Vasquez posted it on January 8 of this year.

Vasquez was interviewed by several media channels and told ABC News’ “Good Morning America” that he wasn’t even on drugs while shooting this video.

“I was just on pure rainbow power,” he said.

This baffling and hilarious video proves that videos truly don’t even have to have educational value to explode over the Internet. Vasquez’s YouTube channel, Hungrybear9562 is now one of the most widely searched popular channels on YouTube.

Internet Marketing

So how does this related to your online business and Internet marketing strategy? If you are able to harness the phenomenal power of viral videos, you will have access to an audience you otherwise wouldn’t have been able to reach in ten years.

So ask yourself, how can you and your brand be visually represented by way of a viral video to really connect with your consumers, and represent yourself as a brand that will be the answer to customer problems?
